Right Where I’m Supposed to Be

Feels like something in your life is off, but you can’t seem to put your finger on it. Many college students post-graduation usually get “the feels”. After all, they did what they were supposed to do: got their education, got that job offer, yet they feel unfulfilled. And it doesn’t just happen to young adults. Those who I call ‘seasoned’ sometimes find themselves asking “Where did I go wrong?”

All that God created you to be and do doesn’t fade away over time. It lies within you waiting to be birthed. Just because a ‘tamed’ lion at the zoo is conditioned to stay prisoner behind the bars of a cage, doesn’t mean it wasn’t destined for wild living. We may ignore the calling but that doesn’t mean it is not there. After all, the lion in you is created to survey the terrains of the jungle, never the four corners of a metal box. So it isn’t a surprise when we reach a point in our life where we question where our lives are headed, as the lion within us starts to rattle the cage out of desperation.

In response, regret sometimes kicks. “I should have…”, “I would have been…”, “I wish…” become constant thoughts. But there’s hope people!

Ephesians 2:7-10 (MSG)

7-10 Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

Long story short, we aren’t in control. He is. Which to me is awesome news, because if I was the only one in charge of directing my life, there’s no debate: I would do a wretched job. Period. I just don’t have the ability of foresight to see how everything blends together, and not just blend together in any form, but blend together for good. God has to do it because HE wants all the bragging rights, and when He brags, you know that no one else can top that.

So my prayer for you is that God restores the original blueprint of your life, and that you live a life of confidence knowing that God is in control. Not you…Him. After all, the journey is more worthwhile and stress-free when the true professional takes control of the vehicle, right?
